Lares Trek Machu Picchu 4 Days

Lares Trek Machu Picchu 4 Days – On this trip we will hike for 5 to 7 hours per day, all the time at an altitude of about 2900 m, where we will have breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks and many beautiful lakes. We will camp near the communities to be able to observe and appreciate the art and textiles preserved by these communities

ITINERARY

Day 01: Cusco – Calca – Lares Hot Springs – Concani

We leave Cusco early in the morning by bus and travel through the Sacred Valley to reach the hot springs of Lares and take the morning in the medicinal hot springs, after lunch, we have two hours walk to our campsite.

Day 02: Concany – Ipsaycocha

After continuing through the valley, we arrive at the community of Huacawasi. The people here produce some of the best weavings in Peru. Here we can observe their excellent skills and brilliant techniques in the manufacture of ponchos and other garments. Passing through the village, we begin to climb up to Condor Pass, the second of the trip at 4100m. From here we have a breathtaking view of the famous Mount Veronica (5750m). Descending gently for about an hour, we arrive at the beautiful Espsaycocha Lake, our last campsite.

Day 03: Ipsaycocha – Patacancha – Huylloc – Pumamarka – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

After breakfast, descending towards the valley, we arrive to the community of willoc where we have lunch, from here it takes two hours to get to Pumamarka and enjoy the Inca terraces, family we arrive to Ollantaytambo. Located in a fertile river valley and sheltered by gigantic mountains, are these ancient living museums in the world. This is a perfect place to appreciate the vast archaeological remains and a great variety of flower and bird species. The group takes the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and spends the night in a comfortable lodge.

Day 04: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After an early breakfast, we will take the bus to Machu Picchu; we check in and begin our 3-hour guided tour. After enjoying the remains, we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to enjoy the town before returning to Cusco.

Not included

  • Sleeping bag, you can rent in our office ($ 20.00 USD for the whole trip).
  • Trekking poles, you can rent in our office (the pair $ 15.00 USD for the whole trip).
  • Lunch on the third day and breakfast on the first day.
  • Entrance fee to Huayna Picchu mountain (optional $ 35 USD).

WHAT TO BRING

What should you bring?

  • Bring original passport “With expiration date not less than 7 months”.
  • ISIC card or student card, if applicable (must be sent at the time of booking).
  • Sleeping bag (can be rented at the agency)
  • Hiking boots and sandals (very important)
  • Trekking poles (can be rented at the agency)
  • Warm clothing: layers for variable temperatures, especially at night. Thermals / gloves / scarves: wool socks / wool hat for cold nights, T-shirts for the entire hike.
  • Headlamp (very important).
  • Camera and spare batteries.
  • Sunscreen / hat and sunglasses.
  • Personal medical kit.
  • Insect repellent.
  • Rain gear: a good raincoat and rain pants and a plastic rain poncho.
  • Toilet paper.
  • Small towel.
  • Extra money for drinks and tips, souvenirs, etc (soles or dollars).
  • Bathing clothes for the hot springs (optional).
  • Water bottle (1 liter recommended).
