Rainbow Mountain And Red Valley Tour 1 Day is one of the iconic Cusco hikes is a must-do day trip if you’re in the Cusco area and have some extra time! Rainbow Mountain and the red valley are a series of high Andean landscapes full of rainbow colors and there are also hills and peaks of red color like a reddish desert which makes it one of the most impressive landscapes of the Peruvian Andes and that make for some of the most beautiful and other-worldly photography on Earth. The hike is not long (8 km round trip hike), but it is all above 5100 m so, while it is challenging for that reason, it is also one of the best day hikes in Peru!

For this trip to the Rainbow Mountain, we will provide everything you need, also the guide will pick you up from your hotel to give you some additional information and start the tour also, we provide breakfast and lunch for this tour, please have a look our itinerary and the details of the tour.

You can also do this trip on horseback for an additional cost of s/80 soles which cost the horses that the locals rent for riding. The horses you can rent directly from the locals once you make to the trail head and the guide will help you.

ITINERARY

Rainbow Mountain Peru and Red Valley Trek

Your tour guide will come to pick you up at 5:00 am to your respective hotel, we will board our private van and  go to the town Cusipata during the trip we will go through different villages and enjoy the incredible views of the Peruvian Andes, the trip it`s about 2 hours, Cusco’s elevation is 3300m / 11,300ft, and the trailhead called Phulawasipata is at 4200m/ 14,300ft.
until we arrive to Cusipata we stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast and stock up on some things necessary to start the hike. After this short stop, we will continue our trip an approximate 50 minutes where we will observe the landscapes, the mysterious mountains and the deep valleys.
arriving to Phullawasipata at 4200m/ 14,300ft. From here the hike begin uphill for two hour and until you reach the Rainbow Mountains. Upon reaching the top of the 5100 meters above sea level, on the way you see glacial peaks, red mountains, rocky hills, and traditional llamas and alpacas grazing along the valley, when you reach the top of the mountain at 5038 masl, you will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes and the Andean fauna.
All the mountains that surround this area are red and there are stunning views of the valleys and the mysterious Rainbow mountain, where we will have enough time to be able to take pictures and videos.
afterwords  we will begin to descend this time taking a detour towards the Red Valley, the name is due to the special pigmentation of the earth that has an intense reddish color due to the abundant amount of minerals, this road will be more special because perhaps we will be one of the only groups on this route, the road will last between 1 hour at 1:30 minutes to reach Phullawasipata where our transport will be waiting to take us to enjoy a deserved and delicious lunch in Cusipata.
Later on we will return to Cusco, we will arrive in the city 4:00 PM approximately and then leave you in your respective hotel.
