The half day tour of the salt mines of Maras and Moray delights the eyes of visitors with the breathtaking views it offers and the picturesque landscapes and snow-capped mountains of the Sacred Valley. The famous salt mines of Maras known by some as “salt mines” are made up of some 3000 small wells, built into the side of the mountain slope of “Qaqawiñay”. Moray an Inca agricultural research center where they conducted crop experiments at different temperatures, the arrangement of its terraces create different microclimates, the center of the concentric circular terraces have higher temperatures and are gradually reduced towards the outside at lower temperatures.

  • Schedule: From 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. approximately.
  • Duration of tour: Approximately 6 hours.

ITINERARY

08:30 | Transport to Moray
We will pick you up between 8:00 and 8:20 to transport you to the first stop of the tour: Moray.

10:30 | Moray
You will walk with your guide through this impressive system of agricultural terraces and continue your visit to Maras.

11:30 | Maras
In Maras you will enjoy an exceptional landscape made up of salt mines that are still in operation today.

13:00| Chinchero
Finally, you will visit a handicraft textile production center in the town of Chinchero.

14:30| Return
We will be back in Cusco at 14:30 approximately.
