This story began eight thousand years ago, near Lake Titicaca on the border between Peru and Bolivia, where there are vestiges of the potato being domesticated by communities of hunters and gatherers.

Since then, the Pope continued his journey through the world, Europe, Russia, Ireland, reaching the African continent in 1880 and little by little became a global input. More than 100 years later the tuber came to reign and in 2008 the International Year of the Potato was declared as an FAO effort to combat hunger and poverty in the world.
